More than 20 are motorcycle riders received a blessing, Sunday, for a safe riding season.
Jefferson Church of the Nazarene held its annual Blessing of the Bikes following the church’s service.
This is the third year the church has hosted the blessing as a way to kick off the riding season, said Shelly Kincaid, wife of the church’s pastor. Area bikers gathered at the church for Sunday’s service and worshiped together before a ride.
Following the service, a luncheon was held for the congregation as well as guests. Pastor Rodney Kincaid then said a blessing over the bikes and their riders, asking God to watch over each of them during this year’s riding season.
“We ask for the Lord’s blessing and safety upon you as you ride this season,” Kincaid said.
Kincaid thanked God for Sunday’s beautiful weather, which served as the perfect backdrop for the day’s ride.
“We’re asking you Lord to have your hands upon each of them,” he said. “We’re asking for your blessing upon these riders and bikes.”
Following the blessing, the group headed out for a ride to Squires Castle in Willoughby Hills. Kincaid also said a special “thank you” and job well done to Jason Marshall, who organized the day’s events. Kincaid said this was Marshall’s first year organizing the event.
Before the group headed out on their way, Kincaid gave them one final thought, “keep safe and have fun.”
