17 people indicted by the Ashtabula County Grand Jury

JEFFERSON — EDITOR’S Note: The indictment of a person by a grand jury or otherwise is an accusation only and that person is presumed innocent until proven guilty. All information is taken from Ashtabula County Common Pleas Court records.

The following people have been indicted by an Ashtabula County Grand Jury and are set for arraignment in Common Pleas Court.

• Rick Erickson, 27, of 99 Marshall St., Conneaut, and Jory M. Rhodes, 25, of 168 St., Conneaut, were indicted on two counts of arson, one count of illegal manufacture of drugs and one count of illegal assembly or possession of chemicals for the manufacture of drugs following incidents on Feb. 26 in Conneaut.

• John F. Dickey, 49, of 338 Madison St., Conneaut, was indicted on one count of illegal manufacture of drugs, one count of illegal assembly or possession of chemicals for the manufacture of drugs and one count of failure to appear following November incidents in Conneaut and a March incident in Jefferson.

• Nathan L. Orosz, 19, of 9118 Route 45, Orwell, was indicted on two counts of assault on a peace officer, after allegedly kicking two different officers, and one count of possession of drugs (diazepam) following a January 27 incident in Orwell.

• Richard K. Leavitt, 55, of 3913 Ninevah Road, Ashtabula, and David A. Nottingham, 52, of 1327 Harmon Road, Ashtabula, were indicted on five counts of aggravated trafficking in drugs with specifications that include forfeiture of computers, and $1,799 in cash following incidents in December and January of 2012 and 2013, respectively.

• Kelly J. Bowers, 22, of 499 Beaver St., Conneaut, was indicted on one count of aggravated possession of drugs following a Feb. 24 incident in Conneaut involving 1 gram of methamphetamines.

• David J. Orgel, 22, of 22, of 137 Hiler St., Conneaut, was indicted on one count of aggravated possession of drugs (1 gram of methamphetamines) and one count of illegal assembly of drugs or possession of chemicals for the manufacture of drugs following Feb. 24 incidents in Conneaut.

• Joseph R. Carter, 24, of 3143 W. 58th St., Cleveland, was indicted on one count of assaulting a peace officer following a March 3 incident in Ashtabula.

• Jeffrey J. Switalski, 26, of 3191 Padanarum Road, Geneva, was indicted on one count of illegal manufacture of drugs, one count of aggravated possession of drugs (3.3 grams of methamphetamines) and one count of possession of heroin (.1 grams) following Feb. 12 incidents in Geneva.

• Jason L. Weese, 37, of 3301 Center St., Ashtabula, and Rachael Clevenger, of 390 South Lawn Boulevard, Eastlake, were each indicted on one count of breaking and entering and one count of theft (more than $1,000) following a March 22 incident in Ashtabula Township.

• Loren E. McCaleb, 44, of 1109 W. 37th St., Ashtabula, was indicted on one count of burglary and one count of petty theft ($100) following a Feb. 20 incident in Ashtabula.

• Larry G. Blankenship, 52, of 3600 Lake Ave., Apt. 411, Ashtabula, was indicted on one count of felonious assault (with a knife) following a Nov. 26 incident in Ashtabula.

• Joseph L. Smith, 37, of 4513 West Main Avenue, was indicted on one count of domestic violence following a March 27 incident in Ashtabula.

• Kendra Morris, 25, of 1792 Netcher Road, Jefferson, was indicted on one count of illegal manufacture of drugs, one count of illegal assembly or possession of chemicals for the manufacture of drugs, one count of aggravated possession of drugs (137.8 grams of methamphetamines) and one count of possession of heroin (.2 grams) following a March 5 incidents in Ashtabula..

• Daryl Rose, 27, of 115 W. School St., Kent, was indicted on two counts of failure to appear after skipping bond on a $10,000 personal recognizance bond applied on an illegal assembly or possession of chemicals for the manufacture of drugs charge.

  • Madison man dies in motorcycle crash

    The Ohio State Highway Patrol Chardon Post is investigating a fatal accident between a car and a motorcycle that collided Saturday morning.
    Lee E. Mullins, 57, of Madison was traveling southbound on State Route 528, on a 2000 Suzuki motorcycle, approaching the intersection of St. Rt. 86, when a 2008 Ford Taurus driven by 36-year-old Kimberly J. Baney of Wampum, Pa. failed to yield at the stop sign entering the intersection.
