Conneaut man faces felony drug charges

CONNEAUT — A Conneaut man will have a preliminary hearing Monday on felony drug charges, a Conneaut Municipal Court spokeswoman said Thursday.

Robert Seegert, 41, 427 Buffalo St., has been charged with aggravated possession of drugs and illegal assembly/possession of chemicals for the manufacture of drugs, according to court records. Both charges are felonies, the spokeswoman said. Seegert also faces misdemeanor charges of drug paraphernalia and cultivation of marijuana, according to court documents.

The hearing will be held at 1 p.m. Seegert will be represented by a public defender, the spokeswoman said. An unsecured $50,000 bond was set on the charges, the spokeswoman said.

On Tuesday evening, police took a search warrant obtained from the court to Seegert’s home, according to Police Chief Charles Burlingham. The address had been the focus of an investigation, he said.

Inside the house police found a powdery, white substance suspected to         be methamphetamine, Burlingham said. Also in the house were items used to create the drug, other drug paraphernalia and a “small marijuana grow operation,” according to a police report.
