Two area men who reportedly injured five people with beer bottles late last week were bound over to the Ashtabula County grand jury Monday afternoon on felony charges, according to a Conneaut Municipal Court spokeswoman.
Christian Rodriguez, 20, of East 5th Street in Erie, Pa., faces four charges of felonious assault, the spokeswoman said. Christopher Brazil, 25, 2933 Glover Dr., Ashtabula, faces one charge of felonious assault, according to court records. Both men waived their right to a preliminary hearing on the charges at Monday’s appearance, a spokeswoman said.
Rodriguez faces a bond totaling $30,000 bond on his charges, while Brazil has a $10,000 cash/surety bond. Both men were in Conneaut’s jail as of Monday afternoon in lieu of bond, according to reports.
The incident occurred around 2:30 a.m. Friday near the intersection of Park Avenue and Harbor Street, police said. Officers were dispatched to a “large fight” in the area, according to a report.
Upon arrival, witnesses said three men — including Brazil and Rodriguez — struck several patrons at the Golden Anchor Bar with beer bottles. Two women were reportedly stabbed with broken bottles and suffering “non-life threatening injuries” to their chests, police said. Four men were struck with bottles, and three of them required medical attention, officers said.
Rodriguez and Brazil were arrested at the scene, police said. The third man fled the area, according to a report.
