RC woman dies from injuries sustained in motorcycle crash

A Rock Creek woman died Sunday after sustaining severe injuries in a Rome Township crash late Sunday afternoon, said Sgt. Troy Sexton of the Ohio Highway Patrol.

Mary Blaha, 50, was pronounced dead early Sunday evening by the Geauga County Coroner’s Office after she was taken to the Geauga Trauma Center, Sexton said.

She was injured when a van, driven by James Reynolds, 63, of Rock Creek, struck a motorcycle driven by Joseph Blaha, 52, (with his wife Mary Blaha on board) near routes 45 and 6 in Rome Township, Sexton said.

Sexton said Joseph Blaha and Reynolds were transported to Geauga County Medical Center where they were treated and released.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation but it does not appear that alcohol or drugs were involved in the crash. He said charges are pending.
