Buckeye to place levy on Nov. 4 election ballot

ASHTABULA TOWNSHIP — The Buckeye Local Board of Education Tuesday adopted a resolution Tuesday to submit the question of an additional levy on the November election ballot.

The proposed continuing 4.7-mill tax levy will pay for current expenses, according to the resolution.

If passed, the levy will generate about $1 million annually, assuming the tax valuation remains constant, school officials said.

At its June meeting, the school board deemed it necessary to ask voters for addtional tax levy.

Tuesday’s resolution actually places the levy on the ballot for November, school officials said.

If approved by voters, the tax would be levied in 2014 for its first collection in 2015, according to the resolution.

In other news, the school board:

• Accepted the resignation of Sherry Williamson, treasurer, effective Aug. 1.

• Appointed kindergarten teacher, Kady Christensen, to Kingsville Elementary School, effective Aug. 22, for one year.

• Appointed social studies teacher, Mitch Bidwell, to Edgewood High School, effective Aug. 22, for one year.

• Approved the appointments  of Steve Diemer and Collin Moscorelli as assistant football coaches for the 2014-15 school year.
