Multi-Cultural Fest back for 4th year

A cultural sight, sound, and taste extravaganza, celebrating the enrichment of diversity to the community, will take place in Downtown Ashtabula once again this summer.

The fourth annual Multi-Cultural Festival, sponsored by the Ashtabula Downtown Development Association (ADDA), will take place Saturday, July 26, from noon to 9 p.m., and Sunday, July 27, from noon to 6 p.m. in Lance Corporal Kevin M. Cornelius Memorial Park. The festival will feature music, dancing, children’s activities, merchandise, food, cultural exhibits, and a beer garden. A variety of food will be available, including ethnic cuisine from Indian to Hawaiian, as well as American, Soul Food, and traditional Festival Fare. There will also be Vegan offerings.

One of the festival highlights this year will be a 5K run Sunday, July 27 beginning at 9 a.m. at the Gazebo in Cornelius Park. Registration starts at 8 a.m. Cost is $20. You can download and submit an application at the ADDA website,,   Applications are also available at

The festival parade will take place between 1 and 2 p.m. on July 26. Parade Chair Suzy Kist says: “There is still time to register to be in the parade. This is a great opportunity for your group or organization to share your heritage, talents and pride with our community.” The theme of the parade is “International,” and, where possible, units are asked to represent a nationality or culture in colorful displays, costumes, music and float(s). Another new festival feature this year will be a Multicultural Pageant, which will be July 19 at 1 p.m. at Superior Intermediate School, 2308 Wade Avenue.
