Sidewalk project subject of Kingsville meeting

KINGSVILLE TOWNSHIP — People behind a school sidewalk project in Kingsville Township want to enlist volunteer laborers to stretch the dollars earned during a recent fundraiser.

A meeting for people willing to help construct the walkway will be held at 7:30 p.m. Monday at the Kings-ville Fire Department hall at routes 193 and 84, said Tyler Infield, a township chiropractor and a project coordinator.

“It will be an informal meeting,” Infield said. “We just want to get everybody together.”

Free labor could help add more sidewalk to the project, Infield said.

“It would help keep costs down,” he said. “We want to get as much sidewalk as we can from the money we raised.”

On May 18, a 5K-1 mile walk/run held in conjunction with Kingsville Public Library’s lawn sale raised $2,117 toward the project, Infield said. “We had 111 runners,” he said.

The sidewalk will be created on the west side of Route 193, beginning at Kingsville Elementary School and then north, possibly as far as the post office at routes 84 and 193, Infield said. The path will assist students walking to and from school, he said.

“We’re hoping volunteer helpers and the community’s support will get us that stretch,” Infield said.

Construction of the sidewalk could begin in August, Infield said.
