Burglaries abound across county

JEFFERSON — Thieves have been at work around Ashtabula County in recent days, according to the Ashtabula County Sheriff’s Department.

A 17-year-old Ashtabula boy told deputies he was assaulted and robbed while walking with a friend through the Edgewood Cemetery around 5 p.m. Monday, deputies said. Three males wearing hooded sweatshirts, their faces covered by scarves, struck the teen and took a hand-held video game, according to reports.

Elsewhere, a traffic stop early Monday morning resulted in the arrest of three young adults suspected of stealing boxes of baked snacks from a trailer in Ashtabula. A deputy on patrol pulled over a truck filled with boxes around 2:30 a.m., on the city’s west side, according to a report. The boxes contained snacks, deputies said.

It was learned the snacks were taken from a trailer parked inside a storage area on North Ridge West, deputies. Charged were Cody Owen, 19, and Daniel Obhoff, 24, both of Ashtabula; and Shane Knowlton, 24, of Harpersfield.

On Saturday, a Saybrook Township resident reported the theft of a video game console and video games from her Lake Road West home, deputies said. Entry may have been made through an unsecured door, according to a report.

Deputies charged Jason Frasure, 21, of Lambros Lane, Ashtabula, with the crime, according to a report.
