It was a dream so big, it took three brothers to make it come true.
The Campofredano brothers, Tony, Michael and John, have turned dreams into reality with C Tavern, a new restaurant and pub at routes 534 and 84 in Geneva.
“We always wanted to go into business together,” Michael Campofredano said. “The time was right and the opportunity presented itself and here we are.”
The dream is built on John Campofredano’s 37 years of experience in the restaurant industry. The menu at C Tavern, described as “comfort food with a twist,” includes meats smoked in-house.
“We all had input into the menu,” Michael Campofredano said, “but it is John’s dream menu. We wanted to offer something wholesome and good, but different at the same time.”
The menu includes jumbo stuffed smoked peppers, over roasted Italian sausage, steaks, beef brisket, and seven different hamburgers.
“The burgers are awesome,” John Campofredano said. “We offer 50 burgers, all inspired and named after each of the 50 United States.”
The express lunch menu includes a smokehouse chef salad, soups, sliders, grilled meat loaf, beer battered fish, and smokehouse chicken mac and cheese.
John Campofredano said his signature dish is his favorite menu offering.
“I really like everything on our menu,” he said, “but if I had to choose, I’d have to say that my version of shepherd’s pie is really amazing.”
Described on the menu as “outrageously awesome,” the shepherd’s pies are smoked beef brisket, pulled pork or smoked chicken in homemade garlic-rubbed bread bowls topped with smashed potatoes.
“The shepherd’s pies are an experience,” he said. “They are so good.”
C Tavern opened in October and already has a loyal following, John Campofredano said.
“I would say that 80 percent of our customers, if not more, are now return customers,” he said.
Open seven days a week for lunch, dinner and half price happy hour drinks, C Tavern features wines from Ashtabula County’s newest winery — M Cellars.
“M Cellars is our premiere wine,” Michael Campofredano said. “We are so pleased to showcase their really fantastic local vintages.”
An artist, Michael Campofredano’s work decorates the walls of the restaurant.
“People come in and buy my pieces right off the walls,” he said.
The restaurant is gearing up for some special meals for special events. They will offer specials for Fat Tuesday, Ash Wednesday, and will feature Lenten specials. An open mic night is held every Sunday at 7 p.m.
Reservations are being accepted for Valentine’s dinners on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. The meal includes a shared appetizer of shrimp cocktail, a salad, choice of entree, shared dessert and a bottle of wine for $80 per couple.

Cash mobs are gatherings at a local business. Everyone commits to spending some money at that business. That means a struggling business that serves 1,000 people can make a significant profit in one night and show off their business to new customers.
There is no maximum or minimum to spend at a ACFCM event.
The Campofredano brothers aren’t done building their dream — this summer they will expand the restaurant to include 120 outdoor seats complete with an outdoor kitchen and bar.
“Our goal is to make everyone comfortable,” Michael Campofredano said. “We want everyone who comes in here to feel welcome, to feel like part of the family.”
