Woman faces drug charges after house raided Friday

ASHTABULA —

A 35-year-old woman faces felony drug charges today after an early morning raid on her home Friday by area law enforcement.
Wanda J. Kelly,  631 W. 38th St., was arrested and charged with possession of criminal tools,  a fifth-degree felony; permitting drug abuse, a fifth-degree felony, and two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia, one count is a fourth-degree misdemeanor, and the other count is a second-degree misdemeanor, according to a Municipal Court official.
When Ashtabula City police and the regional SWAT team executed a search warrant at 6:05 a.m. Friday, they discovered several people inside the two-story home at 631 W. 38th St.,   said detective Lt. Joseph Cellitti of the Ashtabula Police Department.
The officers seized drugs, scales, cash, two adult pit bulls, four pit bull puppies and goods that possibly were stolen, he said.
Police arrested Kelly, who is listed as the owner of the house on the Ashtabula County Auditor’s website.
Kelly has been in trouble with the law before. According to Municipal Court records, she’s been convicted of having vicious dogs (pit bulls), dogs at-large, endangering children, trespassing, aggravated disorderly conduct and petit theft.
An 18-year-old man, who is being held in the Ashtabula County jail, also was arrested during Friday’s raid but has not been charged yet, according to jail and court records.
The Trumbull-Ashtabula Group Task Force (TAG) helped city police with the  investigation, leading to Friday’s arrests, Cellitti said.
TAG is a multi-county agency formed by the sheriffs in Ashtabula and Trumbull counties that focuses investigations on drug traffickers, gangs, firearm traffickers and Homeland Security issues.
