Ashtabula County commissioners award contract for Meadowood sewer project design

JEFFERSON — Ashtabula County commissioners awarded a contract to CT Consultants, of Mentor, for the design of the Meadowood Allotment sanitary sewer project, Tuesday.

The firm will design a gravity sewer system for Cherry Lane, Elmwood Drive and Oak Lane in the Plymouth Township portion of the allotment. CT Consultants will also design improvements to the Meadowood Wastewater Treatment Plant in the Saybrook Township portion of the allotment. Improvements to the WWTP will include the replacement of the existing tanks with concrete tanks and replacement of all associated tank interior piping, valves and diffusers.

The contract amount is not to exceed $106,000.

Commissioners also ordered bids for the Coffee Creek WWTP improvement project in Austinburg Township. The project is estimated to cost $230,000 and will be an Ohio Public Works Commission funded project.

Bids will be opened July 19 at 2 p.m.

In other business, the board:

• Approved the filing of a grant application to the Ohio Office of Criminal Justice Services for the fiscal year 2014 Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant for the Ashtabula County Mental Health and Recovery Services Board.

• Authorized an agreement with the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction for the fiscal year 2014 Community-Based Corrections Programs 408 Misdemeanant Grant for the Eastern County Court and Western County Court probation programs.

• Approved appointments and re-appointments to the Geauga, Ashtabula, Portage Partnership Area 19 Workforce Investment Board as well as to the local Workforce Policy Committee.
