Fire victims hope to have house rebuilt in a few weeks

ANDOVER TOWNSHIP — It didn’t take long for Henry Yoder to start rebuilding after fire tore through his Route 7 home early Saturday morning.

By Saturday evening, Yoder, with some help from his neighbors and friends, had already begun working to rebuild the home at 4460 Route 7.

Yoder said himself and two other adults reside in the house. All three individuals were home when the fire broke out. Luckily, no one was hurt in the blaze.

“We were sleeping when it started,” he said. “We got up at about 5 a.m. and it was burning pretty bad.”

Yoder said the fire started in the chimney, but he did not have an estimate of damages.

Yoder and his family are not able to live in the house while repairs are being made. They are staying at a neighbor’s house until the rebuild is complete.

Yoder said it will probably be a few weeks before they are able to move back in.

“Hopefully we can stick frame it this weekend,” he said. “They (the others helping) seem to think we can but I’m not sure.”

Yoder said his neighbors around the community have already rallied to help in any way needed.

“We will let them know when we are ready and they will come and help,” he said.

Andover volunteer firefighters received the report of the fire at 5:15 a.m. Saturday. When they arrived on the scene at 5:24 a.m. they found the home fully involved. Crews quickly went to work to bring the fire under control, according to reports.

Crews from North Shenango, Linesville, Conneaut Lake, Summit, Pierpont, Dorset and Jefferson all responded as mutual aid. Jamestown Fire Department was put on standby.

Firefighters were on the scene until 8:45 a.m.
