FBI arrests man on warrant for illegal drug distribution

ASHTABULA — A 29-year-old man was arrested on federal drug charges in an Ashtabula apartment Wednesday morning, an FBI spokesman said.

Antonio Carlton was found around 6:30 a.m. at 711 Bunker Hill Road, Apt. 13, said Scott Wilson, FBI spokesman in Cleveland. Carlton was arrested on a warrant issued by the agency’s Southern District of Ohio, located in Columbus. The warrant charges Carlton with distribution of cocaine, Wilson said.

It was not known immediately whether Carlton is a resident of Ashtabula or the Columbus area, Wilson said.

Carlton reportedly was reared in Ashtabula, Wilson said.

Ashtabula police, Ashtabula County sheriff’s deputies and U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration agents assisted the FBI at the scene, Wilson said. Carlton was arrested without incident, he said. Wilson declined to say what may have been found in, or confiscated from, the apartment.

Information led agents to the Ashtabula apartment, Wilson said.

Carlton will appear in U.S. District Court in Cleveland. In the meantime, he is in the custody of federal agents and is being held in the Cleveland area, Wilson said.
