Craft shows and sales a staple of holiday shopping in Ashtabula County

Craft shows, auctions and rummage sales are planned across Ashtabula County, many with a holiday theme. With just 43 holiday shopping days left, crafters are setting out their wares for eager shoppers.

Early birds may get worms, but early shoppers get the best deals at the Holiday Earlybird Extravaganza, to be held at the Geneva Recreation Center from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Tuesday.

The Geneva Recreation Center is located at 72 W. Main St. The sale will include vendors Lia Sophia, A Touch of Glass, Tastefully Simple, Mary Kay Cosmetics, Pampered Chef, Kathleen’s Purses, Home Interiors, Longaberger Baskets, Custom Embroidery/ Framing, Express Affects Graphic Design, Classy Consignments, Green Leash, Barb’s Hand Appliqué Pillows/Shirts, Amy Seifert Designs Jewelry; Alma’s Original Painted Animals and more.

Lunch will be available and the event will feature drawings and door prizes and is sponsored by Geneva Business Women. Proceeds from the event will benefit GBW scholarships.

On Saturday, the Harpersfield Heritage Society will host a craft show and bake sale at the Harpersfield Community Center, 4858 Cork-Cold Springs Road. The show begins at 10 a.m. and ends at 4 p.m. Lunch will be available.

The Ashtabula County Fair Board Auxiliary will host several auctions to at the Jefferson Fairgrounds Expo Center, located at 127 N. Elm St.

The auctions, which will include new merchandise, will be held Nov. 19 and 30 and Dec. 7, 21 and 30. All auctions begin at 2 p.m., and lunch will be available. A portion of the proceeds will be used for fairground improvement.

Saybrook United Methodist Church, located at 7900 S. Depot Road, will hold a church basement rummage sale from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 29. Early bird shoppers can get bargains from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. A craft luncheon will also be he held at Saybrook Elementary to benefit the nursery school.
