A gun-toting robber got away with a woman’s coat and her income tax return Monday afternoon at a gas station in the Harbor, according to Ashtabula police reports.
A 30-year-old city resident said she hitched a ride with a friend to get her 2012 income tax check cashed at about 3 p.m. Monday, reports show.
Afterwards, she put the money in her coat pocket, reports show.
The driver picked up another passenger and, on the way home, they stopped for gas at 1415 Lake Ave., reports show.
That’s when the passenger pulled out a gun, hit her in the head with the gun and said, “Where’s the money?”
The woman said, “In my coat.”
The passenger grabbed her coat and ran off with the coat and an undisclosed amount of money, reports show.
Police were called to the scene at 3:50 p.m., reports show.
