Full-service tanning salon offers new red light therapy

GENEVA — Michelle DeCamillo loves the sun, but she knows the kind of damage those natural rays can do to skin.

DeCamillo, owner of Michelle’s Hot Mess Salon and Michelle’s Hot Mess Tanning, said she is getting ready for shorter days and less sunshine with the salon’s newest service: red light therapy.

“The red light therapy does a lot of different things,” she said. “First of all, after you go tanning, the red light therapy basically takes away any damage that might be done to your skin. We call it the guilt free tan because it reduces aging, fine lines and wrinkles.”

The red light therapy is also therapeutic for seasonal affectiveness disorder, seasonal depression and moodiness.

“It is amazing,” she said. “There are just so many benefits. It even heals acne and psoriasis.”

DeCamillo said the level one and two tanning beds are also equipped with bronzing bulbs for “that notch-above tan.”

“We don’t just stick our customers in the tanning beds,” she said. “We have a very knowledgeable staff to help them get the best tan in the best tanning beds.”

DeCamillo said the combination of advanced bulbs and premium lotions help her clients get the most out of their tanning time.

“We know the magic combination for the best tans around,” she said.

The salon, which opened the tanning side five months ago, is located at 1020 S. Broadway in the Colonel’s Plaza and is open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mondays, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, and from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.

The full-service salon offers manicures, pedicures, massage, all hair services, facials, waxing and makeup.

“We take a lot of pride in what we do here and we love to help our customers get the most out of every experience here,” DeCamillo said.

The salon is offering specials for tanning this month. Level one tanners can get a month of tanning for $20. Level 2 tanners can get a month of tanning free with the purchase of a premium tanning lotion.
