HDT Global lays off 12 employees

HARPERSFIELD TOWNSHIP — Just one day after HDT Global celebrated the beginning of production on its military air-deployable tactical vehicle, the firm announced the layoff of a number of employees at the Harpersfield facility.

Robin Stefanovich, vice president of communications for HDT Global, said Tuesday, 12 employees from the Harpersfield plant were laid off late last week. The layoffs are permanent, she said.

“It’s always unfortunate when we have layoffs,” she said. “But its a part of doing business.”

Stefanovich said the layoffs were a result of a down turn in business, which is being seen industry-wide.

A number of HDT’s other facilities have also been affected by the downward trend, she said.

“We are constantly monitoring our business to try to mitigate that type of decline,” Stefanovich said. “We never like having to experience (layoffs).”

Stefanovich said HDT works very hard to try to diversify its portfolio and ultimately increase its business.

HDT, located on Route 307 in Harpersfield Township, is a leading provider of highly-engineered mobile military and emergency solutions. The facility began production on the Guardian Angel Air-Deployable Rescue Vehicle (GAARV) called the HDT Storm Search and Rescue Tactical Vehicle (SRTV), early last month.

The HDT Storm SRTV is an ultra-lightweight, air-deployable tactical vehicle that offers Guardian Angel rescue teams the necessary equipment to search for and recover personnel and equipment in austere geographic locations.
