Ashtabula County Grand Jury

JEFFERSON — EDITOR’S Note: The indictment of a person by a grand jury or otherwise is an accusation only and that person is presumed innocent until proven guilty. All information is taken from Ashtabula County Common Pleas Court records.

A 41-year-old Pierpont Township man, accused of raping a Conneaut woman early last month, has been indicted by an Ashtabula County Grand Jury on multiple charges.

David A. Goodiel Jr., of 5754 Scribner Road, was indicted on one count of rape, one count of gross sexual imposition and one count of abduction.

Goodiel allegedly took the victim’s keys while she was at his home for a cook-out and allegedly verbally and physically abused her, according to Ashtabula County Sheriff’s Department reports. Goodiel allegedly restrained the woman and violently performed sexual acts, according to reports.

The woman was reportedly able to make a brief phone call to alert a family member of the incident. The family member then reportedly called the Ashtabula County Sheriff’s Department to help locate the woman, according to reports.

The following people have also been indicted by an Ashtabula County Grand Jury and are set for arraignment in Common Pleas Court.

* Kathleen M. Gawrys, 30, of 4377 South Ridge Road E., Geneva, was indicted on one count of aggravated possession of drugs and one count of illegal assembly or possession of chemicals for the manufacture of drugs following a June 14 incident in Geneva.

* Jody T. Phillips, 41, 3037 Lake Road W. #7, Ashtabula, was indicted on one count of aggravated possession of drugs and one count of possession of a controlled substance analog following a June 7 incident in Saybrook Township.

* Matthew L. Wofford, 34, of 487 Millard Ave., Conneaut, was indicted on one count of burglary, one count of petty theft, one count of theft and one count of misuse of credit cards following incidents on July 10 and June 21 in Ashtabula.

* Michael B. Monroe, 20, of 141 Evergreen St., Conneaut, was indicted on one count of breaking and entering and one count of possessing criminal tools following a July 11 incident in Conneaut.

* Richard B. McCurdy, 43, of 2325 Shawnee Trail, Youngstown, was indicted on one count of domestic violence and one count of disrupting public service following a July 10 incident in Andover Township.

* Aaron T. Naylor, 25, of 192 Matthews St., Painesville, was indicted on one count of having weapons while under disability following an April 19 incident in Ashtabula.

* Joshua T. Jones, 21, 1540 W. 47th St., Ashtabula, was indicted on one count of assault following a Feb. 26 incident in Ashtabula.

* Matthew L. Fogus, 21, of 23492 Creek Road, Springboro, Pa., was indicted on one count of aggravated possession of drugs following a July 25 incident in Conneaut.

* Ronald E. Goodman, 44, of 4521 Route 193, Kingsville, was indicted on one count of illegal manufacture of drugs, one count of illegal assembly or possession of chemicals for the manufacture of drugs and one count of resisting arrest following a July 22 incident in Ashtabula.

* Ashley N. Lavin, 22, of 94 W. Main St., Orwell, was indicted on one count of aggravated possession of drugs, one count of illegal assembly or possession of chemicals for the manufacture of drugs, on count of illegal manufacture of drugs and one count of possessing drug abuse instruments following a July 2 incident in Orwell.

* Robert G. Scott, 21, of 285 Grant St., Geneva, was indicted on one count of aggravated possession of drugs following a July 26 incident in Geneva.

* Clifton Cummings, 24, of 248 Auburn, Buffalo, NY, was indicted on one count of carrying a concealed weapon following a July 25 incident in Ashtabula.

* Jeffrey A. Alley, 30, 1127 Dock Road, Madison, was indicted on one count of breaking and entering following a July 29 incident in Geneva Township.
