Golf Cart Path

GOTL to host fourth annual Mayor’s Open golf tournament

GENEVA-ON-THE-LAKE — Continued improvements to the Geneva-on-the-Lake Municipal Golf Course need continued funding, village administrator Jim Hockaday said.

To raise funds for the new golf cart path at the village-owned golf course, Hockaday is hosting the annual Mayor’s Open golf tournament on Sept. 15 at the golf course.

The event features $1,000 in prize money.

“We need to increase the number of holes assessable by cart,” Hockaday said. “The tournement will raise money to build a golf cart path for the back nine holes at the golf course.”

The asphalt path, which could cost as much as $180,000, is a long way off, but the Hockaday said the outing could raise as much as $5,000 toward the project.

“All proceeds go to the golf course capital fund,” he said. “It will be really exciting to be able to use the course in the early spring and late fall when it is wet and access to the course is limited.”

In the fourth annual four person scramble, the tournament will feature an 18-hole experience with a shotgun start. Registration is at 9 a.m. and tee-off will be at 10 a.m. The event will include a hole-in-one shot to win a 2013 Chevrolet car from Classic Chevrolet in Madison.

Other prizes include a season pass to the golf course with golf cart privileges.

Tickets are limited to 30 teams and include a cookout meal with beverages. There are unlimited food and beverage tickets available.

Cost is $60 per golfer and includes the green fee, cart, lunch at the turn, and dinner with beer included.

Skill awards will be given for the shot closest to the pin, the longest driver, and the longest putt.

Sponsorships for the outing are still available. Become a tee sponsor for $100, a flag sponsor for $150 and a major sponsor for $500.
