Deep-sea fun made a splash at Pymatuning Valley’s Veteran’s Memorial Performing Arts Center this weekend, as PV students performed The Little Mermaid Junior.
Students performing ranged from third grade to age 18, and had to go through an auditioning process. The Little Mermaid Junior is based on the Hans Christian Andersen story and the Disney film.
Through the Andover Community Theater Society, Director Lynn Sabeh, Producer Josh Woodard, and Stage Manager Colleen Sabeh, along with a crew of seven, presented an hour and a half long show starring 57 students.
The show ran Friday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m., and Sunday at 2:30 p.m.
Sunday’s show featured a 50/50 raffle with a prize of $94 with the proceeds going to new lighting for the theater.
Lynn Sabeh is a graduate of the PV 2003 class. She said, “This is our first time doing a show in this capacity. We ran a theater training camp before this, and we will be doing it again in June or July.”
She said the training camp covers such topics as stage combat, choreography, dialects, and more.
Colleen Sabeh said the Andover Community Theater Society currently does one community theater production a year, and they are hoping to add an adult theater section in the future.
She said they like to include actors from Andover and the surrounding areas.
