We set an attendance record this year at the Ashtabula County Cattleman’s Banquet

Hello, Ashtabula County! This fall has been a struggle for our local farmers.

All of the rain has really saturated our soils and has stalled our harvest. We need a nice stretch of weather to allow harvest to be completed.

It has been a rough year for crop farmers so it would be nice for the year to end on a good note.

We have had plenty of rain, now how about the rainbow?

I am pleased to report back to you the 24th Annual Ashtabula County Cattlemen’s Association Banquet held on Saturday, Nov. 2 at the Lenox Community Center was a huge success with 140 local beef producers in attendance.

Even with the lights flickering on and off due to the stormy weather, it was a great banquet.

It was wonderful to see many of our producers at this event which is held each year to reflect on the achievements of the Ashtabula County Cattlemen’s Association.

We set an attendance record this year and it is no secret our sky rocketing attendance is due to the wonderful Prime Rib dinner prepared by Cherry Valley Processing owned by Joe and Laurie Mezinger. I have never had a larger or more delicious piece of Prime Rib.

Anyone who attends the banquet is hooked and is sure to come back. We appreciate Joe and Laurie’s support of our beef industry.

Our banquet meal was followed by an outstanding singing performance by The Klein Family of Madison.

The Klein Family is a family band who plays Bluegrass, Old-time, Gospel, Folk, Celtic, Cajun, and Country music.

They were in the middle of a great performance when power was lost due to the storm. We are sure to bring them back to entertain at future banquets.

Congratulations to Bob Brown for being re-elected to the Cattlemen’s Board of Directors and to Bart Kanicki for being elected as a new director.

I would like to thank Glenn Smith of Lenox who is retiring from the board. Glenn has served on the board since 2007 and has been our President for the past three years. I would like to thank Glenn for his great service to our beef industry.
