G. B. Community Theatre at the Ashtabula Arts Center will open a family favorite musical tonight. “Annie” will be performed on the Ashtabula Arts Center stage on Nov. 1, 2, 3, 8, 9, 10, 15, 16 and 17. Friday and Saturday shows begin at 8 p.m. Sunday matinees begin at 2 p.m.
Directed by Christie Seymour of Ashtabula, this story of the popular comic strip heroine, Little Orphan Annie and her famous dog, Sandy, has grown to be one of the world’s best loved musicals. Despite her start in a gloomy orphanage run by the cruel Miss Hannigan, “Annie” played by Sara Riley, manages to run away and have adventure after fun-filled adventure in the magical world of New York City. She befriends President Franklin Delano Roosevelt and finds a new home and family with the charming Daddy Warbucks and his personal secretary, Grace.

Tickets for “Annie” are now on sale for $14 adults, $12 Seniors and Students and $11 for children age 12 and under. Or you can save $2 per ticket by purchasing tickets in advance. Advance sale tickets must be purchased before 4 p.m. on the day of the show or by 1 p.m. on Saturday for Saturday and Sunday performances. Tickets can be purchased over the phone with a credit card by calling (440) 964-3396 or can be purchase with cash, check or credit card at the Ashtabula Arts Center’s box office during regular business hours.
In addition, “Dinner Before the Show” will be held prior to the performance on Nov. 9. Dinner seating begins at 6:30 p.m. and costs $16 in addition to the cost of your theater ticket. Reservations and prepayment are required by noon on Wednesday, November 6 unless dinner seating sells out prior to that time. The evening’s chef will be Sandra Barron.
