Not too late to enter parade

ASHTABULA — — Schools, businesses, civic organizations and service groups are invited to participate in the city’s annual Christmas parade.

The parade is slated for 7 p.m. Nov. 22, and is the first event of the holiday season in Ashtabula.

Participants will line up beginning at 6 p.m. at West 48th Street and Park Avenue. The parade will head north on Main Avenue, turn left on 42nd Street, left on Park Avenue and end at the Municipal Building.

Cash prizes will be awarded to the three best holiday floats: first prize garners $150; second prize, $75, and third place, $50.

Forms are available at the Ashtabula Area Chamber of Commerce, 4536 Main Ave., Ashtabula.

The parade will include fire trucks, police cars, baton twirlers, cheerleaders, dancers, beauty queens, holiday floats, Lakeside High School Marching Band and Santa Claus.

The Ashtabula Downtown Development Association will be hosting activities in Lance Cpl. Kevin M. Cornelius Memorial Park prior to the parade. The activities will include caroling and a tree decorating contest. This is the fourth year for the tree decoration contest.

For businesses interested in participating in the tree decorating contest, a registration form can be accessed online at the Ashtabula Downtown Development Association (ADDA) website.
