Ashtabula County commissioners hire consultant for dispatch study

JEFFERSON — Ashtabula County Commissioners approved a resolution, Thursday, to hire a consultant for the feasibility study on a mutual public safety dispatching center for the county.

The county will contract with Frank Bernato, who will provide assistance to L.R. Kimball, the firm hired to conduct the study.

Commissioner Peggy Carlo said Bernato will serve as a contact person and facilitate meetings and such. Bernato is retired from the fire service, she said.

The contract amount is not to exceed $3,000 for up to a maximum of 150 hours plus mileage. The contract is part of the $70,000 grant the county received to conduct the feasibility study.

Carlo said she is glad the agreement is in place so L.R. Kimball can begin the study.
