ASHTABULA — A 30-year-old Ashtabula man is recovering from minor stab wounds after being attacked and robbed.

It happened at about 10:30 p.m. Friday at the corner of Woodman Avenue and West Prospect Road.

The victim told police he was walking from Family Video to Circle K when two men jumped him and demanded money.

He fell to the ground.

The suspects went through his pockets taking $200 in cash.

He tried to fight them, but one of the suspects slashed his left leg with a knife and stabbed him multiple times in the right shoulder.

The men then fled on foot with the victim’s money.

A Good Samaritan stopped and drove the victim to Ashtabula County Medical Center, where he was treated and released.

Police are searching for two black men wearing all black clothes and carrying a small knife.

The incident is under investigation.

City police also are on the look-out for a man who robbed a woman Thursday night in the Walgreen’s parking lot, 318 W. Prospect Road, and then fled on foot.

Police responded to Walgreens around 5:30 p.m.

Ashtabula Police Chief Robert Stell said a black man grabbed the woman from behind and took her cell phone, cash and some debit or credit cards from her pocket.
