ASHTABULA TOWNSHIP — Another store is closing in the Ashtabula Towne Square.

Kitchen Collection will shut its doors at the end of May, store employees said.

The store is located at the east end of the mall near the Shoe Dept.

It employs six people. They were told of the closing on Tuesday.

The Kitchen Collection, Inc. operates a chain of kitchenware stores in the United States. The company provides gadgets, small appliances, bakeware, cookware, cutlery, and marble and ceramic products. It also sells products online.

The store was one of the original stores in the Ashtabula Mall when it opened in 1992.

The company was founded in 1982 and is based in Chillicothe. Calls to company headquarters on the reason for the closure were not returned Tuesday.

For 2012, the company reported revenues of $224.7 million against $221.2 million a year ago, according to the company’s web site.

Kitchen Collection’s closing follows Christopher & Banks, Fashion Bug, Payless ShoeSource and Sears, which have all vacated the mall in the past year.

The good news is Red Lobster and Tractor Supply, considered part of the mall complex, do a good business, Sean Ratican, executive director of the Ashtabula County Port Authority has said.
