Stretch of Rt. 193 open, another to close

AKRON — A section of Route 193 in Sheffield and Kingsville townships closed for repairs has reopened, according to the Ohio Department of Transportation’s District Four office in Akron.

The stretch in question is located between Sheffield-Monroe and Gageville-Monroe roads. The work is part of a $1.2 million project to resurface Route 193 between Sheffield-Monroe Road Interstate 90, and includes bridge repairs and a replacement of the Route 193 bridge over the Ashtabula River.

As part of the project, various lane restrictions will remain in effect in the construction area. The entire project should be completed sometime by October, according to ODOT.

In other Route 193 news, the CSX Railway crossing just north of Route 20 will be closed for repairs between Thursday and Sunday. The official detour will be Route 20 to Route 11 north to Route 531.
