All star cheer group to host spring camp at the Geneva Recreation Center

GENEVA — The Xtreme Cheer All Stars will host a Spring Fling Cheer Camp on April 2, 3, and 4 at the Geneva Recreation Center.

The camp, for girls in pre-school through seventh grade, will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. each day.

“Our goal is to provide a unique camp experience where cheerleaders learn the basics and fundamentals of cheerleading while having fun and enjoying a wonderful camp experience,” cheer team leader Karen Cordova said.

Cordova said cheerleading teaches young athletes the essentials skills to lead a crowd and “support the home team.”

“This camp is an entry-level cheer program that will ensure that each camper will learn cheers, proper hand and body movements, as well as jumping techniques,” Cordova said. “We will also have some time set aside to learn tumbling skills such as front and back rolls, cartwheels, roundoffs and roundoff back handsprings.”

The camp is open to all girls from every school district and homeschooled children, as well.

No matter how “Xtreme,” the team, the camp is about having fun, Cordova said.

“While focusing on having fun, each cheerleader will learn important team building and leadership skills,” she said. “We will have a mini competition between the girls with prizes to be given out on the third day.”

Cost is $60 per girl, with checks payable to Karen Cordova. A sign-up event will be held on Monday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Geneva Recreation Center. Sibling discounts are also available. Registration and checks can be sent to: Karen Cordova 840 Chestnut St. Geneva, Ohio 44041

Girls should bring a water bottle or sports drink to camp (no pop); a packed lunch on Tuesday and Wednesday and a pizza lunch will be provided on Thursday. Tennis shoes are required. Shorts or stretchy pants and a T-shirt should be worn, with no bellies showing, short shorts or low rise shorts.

Payment and forms will also be accepted the day of the clinic, however each child must be registered via phone or email before the date of the clinic to receive a T-shirt.
