Our Lady of Peace Parish plans huge rummage sale

ASHTABULA — Bicycles, furniture, antiques, home furnishings, glassware, books, purses, baby items and more are available for purchase during the annual Our Lady of Peace Parish Rummage Sale.

The event is 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 17, 18 and 19 at Mount Carmel School gym, 1200 E. 21st St. Hot dogs and refreshments will be sold on site, and proceeds from the sale go to the parish’s ministries, organizers said.

“We have had a very successful rummage sale for many, many years, but I’m especially excited about this year’s sale,” said Linda DiCamillo, who chairs the sale committee. “We have many school chairs in excellent condition, in all sizes — from kindergarten to seventh and eighth grade.”

The chairs cost only $2.50 each.

When St. John and Paul School moved to the old Saybrook Elementary School on Depot Road in Saybrook Township, it left many chairs behind. Ashtabula Area City Schools also donated chairs for the sale and they are in excellent condition, DeCamillo said.

Also for sale are desks, science lab items, microscopes, holiday decor, file cabinets, a wheelchair, a good, clean couch, dining room set, twin bed set with dresser, knick-knacks, handmade jewelry, dishes ... — “well, you name it, and it’s probably here,” DeCamillo said.

Some of the more unusual items include an antique Firestone bike, two large, white, plastic Easter bunnies, hockey skates and a doctor’s examination table.

There are so many items that they fill the entire school gym and overflow into the hallway and entryway outside the gym.
