Pictures with Santa, face-painting, and Santa’s workshop were fun features at Geneva-on-the-Lake Fire Department’s first annual Christmas party on Sunday.
The party was sponsored by GOTL Fire Department, Inc. “It went very well for being our first year,” said Andy Kaschalk, president of GOTL Fire Department, Inc. “The turnout was low, that was the only downside, but the kids seemed to have a good time.”
Kaschalk said they had 16 children right as the party started at 1 p.m. “We had a big rush at the beginning, but then it died down.” Children got pictures with Santa, and then proceeded to make picture frames at Santa’s workshop.
A lunch of sloppy-joes, hot dogs, and assorted sweets was provided, and children also enjoyed face-painting and stringing popcorn necklaces.
Kaschalk said they plan on having the Christmas party again next year. “We do a Halloween party every year, so this is our way of trying to continue that and keep the community together.”
