ASHTABULA — Stop by Tony’s Dog House and you’ll see pink — all to help out a good cause, come July 17.

Tony’s, 528 Lake Ave., will donate 15 percent of all sales from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. July 17 to the Susan G. Komen Foundation.

In addition, there will be entertainment by Ashtabula’s Dennis Ford from 6-8 p.m., and lots and lots of giveaways, including pink T-shirts, gift baskets and corn hole sets.

“My mom is a cancer survivor — three years,” said Kelly Nelson, event organizer and an employee at Tony’s Dog House. “We’re doing it because we care.”

Tony Romano, owner of Tony’s Dog House, said, “I like to give back to the community.”

His uncle also is a cancer survivor and he meets people at his restaurant every day who are fighting the disease, he said.

“We’ve done this for the Susan G. Komen Foundation for three years,” he said. “This is our fourth benefit for breast cancer.”

Romano encourages area residents to bring their family and friends.

“Come eat, relax and enjoy the music,” he said.

Romano said Kelly (Nelson) is doing a great job, going all out with all sorts of surprises and decorations, including a big white Christmas tree with pink lights and inflatable pink ribbons.

“We want to give a sizable donation,” Romano said. “We’re going to make it a great day for a good cause.”

Tony’s Dog House, 528 Lake Ave., is raising money for the Susan G. Komen for the Cure promise: to save lives and end breast cancer forever by empowering people, ensuring quality care and energizing science to find the cures.
