HARPERSFIELD TOWNSHIP — Time is running out to purchase Dinner on the River raffle tickets.

The annual raffle, which includes a lobster and steak dinner on the Grand River with linen service and live music for 10 people, is the biggest fundraiser of the year for the Friends of the Harpersfield Covered Bridge Metropark. The group supports the care and maintenance at the park.

The meal also includes appetizers, sides, and homemade desserts.

Tickets are $5 each and the funds will benefit upkeep, maintenance and improvements at the covered bridge park. “We think our bridge is beautiful and thousands of tourists agree,” Friends member Rhonda McElroy said. “The area is picturesque and it is a common top for bridal parties to be photographed.”

State and local funding for the park has waned in recent years, McElroy said, leaving local residents and bridge enthusiasts to rely on fundraisers and donations. Future plans for the park include new roofing for the three pavilions and storage shed at the park.

The lucky winner of the dinner for 10 is in for a real treat, McElroy said.

“You have never experienced the river as you will if you win this raffle,” she said.
