Mary’s Diner gets Tips for the Ta-Tas

GENEVA — At Mary’s Diner on Friday as Susan G. Komen for the Cure volunteers will shadow the waitresses, educate the diners, and collect donations for breast cancer research and awareness.

The annual “Tips for the Ta-Tas” will be from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m., diner owner David Jones said.

“Our waitresses will be waiting the tables as usual, but the Komen volunteers will be on hand to answer questions about the organization and about breast cancer,” he said. “They will hand out special envelopes so people can donate to the cause.”

The Tips for the Ta-Tas event supports the annual Walk for the Cure, hosted by University Hospitals Geneva Medical Center, at Geneva High School on Sept. 15. Funds raised at the walk provides free or low cost mammograms to local women through University Hospitals.

Jones said he is always happy to support the community and services to local residents.

“My wife is a breast cancer survivor, so this hits especially close to home for us,” he said. “But we also believe in community involvement. This is something the Komen volunteers wanted to do and we are happy to help them.”
