Cooperative effort helps families in Madison Township

MADISON TOWNSHIP — A two state cooperative venture brightened the lives of several Western Reserve Mobile Home Park residents this weekend.

Rainy weather provided a challenge for the work force from area churches and a church group from North Carolina, said Robyn Steinmetz of Crossroads Community Church that helped organize the project.

Love in Action, is a charitable organization founded by Cross Roads Community Church, Steinmetz said. She said anyone interested in helping the organization on future projects may call her at 440-862-6515.

“We had to work around the water,” she said of the Friday and Saturday work projects that included painting, deck replacement or repair, roof replacement, shed construction and the installation of a wheelchair ramp to name a few.

Steinmetz said the connection with the North Carolina Church came through a connection with a former village administrator who now lives and works in North Carolina. She said seven people came to help workers from a variety of area churches including Crossroads Community Church, People’s Church in Geneva and Leroy Community Church.

A group from CCC went to North Carolina this past spring. “We actually took a group down there and did an extreme makeover,” Steinmetz said.

She said a variety of area businesses and the Madison Fire Department helped make the project a success.

Steinmetz said area volunteers will continue to work on some projects that were started this weekend and weren’t completed due to the weather.
