MADISON TOWNSHIP — The Friends of the Geneva Public Library plan to sip their way to a new gazebo with a wine and book fundraiser at Chalet Debonne.

Tickets are now available for the group’s annual “Uncorked for Books” event, to be held May 4.

“This is our third winery event and we are very excited,” said club fundraising chairperson Ruth Bogue. “Everyone who comes has a wonderful time.”

The event will feature wine samples, iced tea, light appetizers, door prizes, a Chinese auction, and 50/50 raffle. Each ticket holder will receive a small gift.

“We have some amazing auction items this year,” Bogue said.

The prizes include a grill accessory kit, prize baskets, binoculars, many cooking items, many books, gift certificates to Wal-Mart, Best Buy, Griffith’s Furniture, Home Depot, C Tavern, Domino’s Pizza, Olive Garden, Catherine’s Christmas, Slyyders, Girard Nursery, Eddie’s Grill and McDonald’s. A lucky bidder will win two tickets to Cedar Point.

Tickets to the event are $20 per person and can be purchased at the Geneva Public Library on Sherman Street or by calling 520-3497. A limited number of tickets will be available at the door.

Bogue said the Friends group hopes to build a gazebo on the library lawn.

“The gazebo would be used for various library events,” she said, “including events in the summer reading program. We really think it would get a lot of use.”

Items can still be donated for the Chinese auction by calling 520-3497, or just drop off the items at the library.
