Big Brothers Big Sisters of Cuyahoga, Ashtabula, Lake, Geauga and Lorain counties have partnered to launch the Little Big Shot Basketball Shootout, a new and exciting fundraising initiative held at Quicken Loans Arena, and tipping-off on Sunday, Aug. 11 from 8 a.m. to 6: p.m. Proceeds from the inaugural tournament will help promote the Big Brothers Big Sisters mission of providing safe, one-to-one mentoring relationships between youth and caring adults.
The Little Big Shot tournament will take place on the home court of the Cleveland Cavaliers, the “Q.” Teams comprised of seven to 12 players, of all ages and skill levels, will compete within three bracket divisions (8-12 yrs., 13-17 yrs. and 18+) in head-to-head matches in the ultimate 3-point shootout.
A double-elimination tournament-style bracket will determine the champions. In addition to the Little Big Shot award, the winning teams will receive complimentary tickets to a 2013-14 Cavaliers home game and on-court recognition at the game that night.
“We are excited to launch Little Big Shot for Big Brothers Big Sisters,” said Tim Kehres, Executive Director of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northeast Ohio. “By holding the basketball shootout at the home of the Cavaliers, we will be able to raise awareness and funds to support our organization. That means more volunteers being paired with children facing adversity in long-term, professionally supported mentoring matches.”
Players can register online through Aug. 5. Interested competitors are encouraged to sign up soon as there are a limited number of team slots available.
