A 19-year-old Ashtabula woman is facing drug trafficking charges after multiple law enforcement agencies conducted a search and seizure operation Thursday morning.
Investigators with the Trumbull Ashtabula Geauga (TAG) Law Enforcement Task Force, Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation and Identification (BCI&I), Ashtabula Police Department and the Ashtabula County Sheriff’s Department, served a search warrant at 6331 Bardmoor Ave. in Ashtabula at 9:30 a.m.
The warrant service was the result of a four-month investigation, said Det. Greg Leonhard, of TAG.
Leonhard could not go into detail about the investigation, but said law enforcement agencies were made aware of possible trafficking being conducted at the Ashtabula Metropolitan Housing Authority property.
Officials seized heroin, prescription pills, drug paraphernalia, drug packaging material, U.S. currency and electronics, he said.
There was also an infant in the house during the alleged transactions and the warrant service. Ashtabula County Children Services was contacted and the child was placed in the custody of the grandmother, Leonhard said.
Officials are waiting for lab reports before filing formal charges. Leonhard said the woman is facing multiple trafficking in heroin charges. Once the reports are complete, the case will be presented to the Ashtabula County Grand Jury.
