Door-to-door salesman arrested in Geneva on felony warrant

GENEVA — A door to door salesman didn’t “clean up” in Geneva on Wednesday, as he was arrested on a felony warrant out of Ross County.

William Bethel, 30, of Chillicothe was walking door-to-door in the Millwood development off Austin Road, selling Titan Orange cleaning supplies, Geneva police reports show, when a concerned resident of the neighborhood called police.

Geneva Police Sgt. Joseph Webb found Bethel walking in the neighborhood and asked him for identification.

During the interaction, Webb discovered Bethel had a warrant out of Chillicothe for a minor misdemeanor, but without an order for pickup. Within minutes, the Geneva dispatcher alerted Webb that Bethel had another warrant — this time for felony forgery — out of Ross County, police reports show.

Bethel was taken to the Geneva City Jail, police reports show, and his boss, who is operating the business out of Madison, came to the police station to pick up the products Bethel was selling and the money he had collected.
