Dinner to benefit terminally ill Ashtabula father is June 27

ASHTABULA — A young father, brother, uncle and friend to many is undergoing treatment for terminal liver cancer.

Eric Massena, 46, is receiving treatments that he hopes will prolong his life, but he was told Friday that the end of his life is near.

Eric is unable to work at this time due to fatigue and the progression of his illness, family members said.

He does not have medical or life insurance.

“As you can imagine, financial issues are a concern and as a family we would like to support Eric with finances and funeral arrangements,” Scott Massena said. “We know the end is near and all proceeds will go towards doctor visits and funeral costs.”

A benefit rigatoni dinner, salad, bread, dessert and beverage will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. June 27 at Ashtabula First Church of the Nazarene, 1820 Route 84.

Any donations, large or small, are appreciated. A silent auction will be held and any gift baskets or gift card from companies will be appreciated.

For more information or to help out, contact one of the following: Tina Mason, 440-992-9791; Jennifer Prusinski, 440-228-4630, or Scott Massena at 440-466-6595.
