Lodge to host adult learning in Oct., kids camp in Nov.

Curious learners young and older are welcome to join the Lodge and Conference Center at Geneva-on-the-Lake’s new learning programs for all ages and all areas of interest, lodge representative Meg Albert said.

Students in grades 6 and 7 are eligible to participate in the Discovery Paths Learning Program, Albert said.

“This program is geared toward middle school students,” she said. “We will focus on environmental awareness and health and wellness with a weekend of fun learning in Ashtabula County.”

The program, which will be held Nov. 12-14, includes a two night stay at the lodge, six meals and transportation to two off-site field trips costs $319 per student and features trips to Cold Springs Orchard and the Geneva swamp.

“Presenters include speakers from the Cleveland Museum of Natural History, the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, and the Ashtabula County Soil and Water Conservation,” Albert said. “Each presenter will speak on environmental awareness and health studies such as where food came from and how it got to their plates how to make healthy food selections.”

Albert said the weekend camp for kids will be a lot of fun.

“It is a little like a camp, so it’ll be a lot of fun,” she said. “We are very excited about it and what it brings to the area. We are always excited to be able to highlight Lake Erie.”

For more information on the program or to enroll, call Julie Newman at 866-247-0428.

The lodge will host adult learners in the Life Long Learning Adventures program, which is part of the Discovery Paths program, Albert said.

The program begins Wednesday with a presentation on autumn in Ashtabula County and will include a nature walk, a landscape photography class on the scenic places in Ashtabula County, and dessert made from local fruit. Cost is $10 per person and includes beverages. Book a room at the lodge that night and the Learning Adventures program is free.

For reservations, call 576-3768.
