Harvest Festival returns to South Ridge Academy

Star Beacon

CONNEAUT — The South Ridge Christian Academy, 924 Center Road, Conneaut, will host its 11th annual Harvest Festival Oct. 4-5, at the school’s gymnasium.  Admission is free.

Preceding the two-day event will be a barbecue chicken dinner, served 4-7 p.m. Oct. 3, also in the gym. Tickets are $9 for adults and $5 for children, and the menu includes one-quarter chicken, baked potato, baked beans, roll, salad, dessert and beverage.

Customers will dine amid “Harvest Ridge,” a mock-up of a Western town, which serves as the theme of the festival. The town features a general store, silver mine and jail that will house the occasional “guest” — courtesy the sheriff.

The festival will offer two silent auctions: one features items from businesses while the other will showcase handmade wares, baked goods and crafts. A “stagecoach” will give guests rides and a chance to encounter the “Ridge Gang,” a band of desperadoes. A gunfight between cowboys armed with paintball guns will be featured, along with games, crafts, produce and entertainment.

Food will also be sold, including bean soup, chicken chipolte wraps, sausage sandwiches, fresh-cut french fries and bakery.

For more information about the festival or the chicken dinner, call the Academy at 593-5840.
