Billman elected to position with Ohio Funeral Directors Association

ASHTABULA — Members of the Ohio Funeral Directors Association elected Joan Billman president-elect at their annual convention held May 28-30 at the Hilton at Easton Center in Columbus. She is only the second woman to be elected to the OFDA executive board in its 133- year history.

A funeral director with Fleming & Billman Funeral Directors of Ashtabula, Jefferson and Geneva, Billman has held positions including treasurer, secretary, regional director and president of the local District 19, which includes Ashtabula, Geauga and Lake County funeral homes. She has earned the designation of Certified Funeral Service Provider by the Academy of Professional Funeral Service Practice. She also serves on the board of directors of ACCESS and LEADERSHIP Ashtabula, on which she was board president 2009-2011.

Billman and her husband Bob Billman, also a licensed funeral director, have two adult children, Chris and Nick. They reside in Saybrook Township and are members of The First United Methodist Church of Ashtabula.
