ASHTABULA — Police are investigating a rash of shootings, including shots fired into a Madison Avenue house where a child was present.

When they arrived at 5513 Madison Ave. Sunday night to find the back window of the home shot out, Ashtabula Police Chief Robert Stell said.

“Nobody was injured but officers found various contraband, including cocaine and a stolen AK 15 rifle,” he said. “The occupant, Amanda Wetherbee, was arrested.”

Ashtabula County Children Services was contacted about the child in the home, police said.

Wetherbee was charged with aggravated trafficking cocaine, possession of drugs and receiving stolen property, according to Municipal Court records.

Judge Albert Camplese set bond at $30,000 cash or surety. Wetherbee posted bond and her preliminary hearing is set for 11 a.m. Tuesday.

Police also are investigating a shooting in the 4000 block of Lake Avenue at about 10 p.m. Monday, and gunshots fired at 7 a.m. Jan. 10 on Burroughs Court.

“Officers heart yelling and screaming and two shots fired (on Burroughs),” Stell said. “But were unable to find anything.”
