Morgan Ox Roast is under way in Rock Creek

ROCK CREEK — The Morgan Hose Company Volunteer Fire Department Ox Roast is in full swing with a host of activities and entertainment planned for the rest of the weekend.

The Ox Roast has been a summer staple in the village for more than 30 years.

Today’s events will kick-off with the announcement of Rock Creek’s Citizen of the Year. Line-up for the parade will begin at 11 a.m. and the parade will step off at 1 p.m.

The famous roast beef dinners will be served both today and Sunday. Dinners will be served from 2 to 7 p.m. today and from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday. Roast Beef sandwiches will also be served all weekend.

Today’s events include the E & J Reptile Show at 2:30 p.m., a karate demonstration by Iron Dragon at 4 p.m., a tractor pull hosted by the Rock Creek Veterans of Foreign Wars at 4 p.m., and an adult tricycle race at 5 p.m.

Country band Rough Cut will finish off the day’s events. The band will take the stage at 8 p.m.

The festival will get underway Sunday with a fellowship service hosted by the Rock Creek Church of Christ at 10:30 a.m.

The Hobo’s Polka Band will take the stage at 1 p.m.

Magician Rick Smith will return this year, at 2 p.m., to wow children of all ages. Smith, a magician and illusionist, has been seen on the Ellen show, Shark Tank, Time Warp, America’s Got Talent, and the Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Buehner said.

Kids tractor races will be held at 3 p.m. in front of the fire hall.

Sign-ups for the corn hole tournaments begin at 12:15 p.m. Cost is $30 per two-person team for the double-elimination tournament. Cash prizes include $300 for first place; $200 for second place; $100 for third place; $75 for fourth place; $50 for fifth place; and, $25 for sixth place.

There will also be an all female tournament. Cost is $10 per two-woman team. Cash prizes include $75 for first place, $50 for second place and $25 for third place. Participants in the main tournament are not eligible to compete in the all female tournament.

Winners for the silent auction, which runs all weekend, will be announced at 5 p.m..

The annual Rotary Club Duck Derby will close out the festivities this year at 6 p.m. at Rock Creek Park.

The fire department will also raffle off a 2014 Polaris 570 four-wheeler. Only 500 tickets will be sold. Tickets are $20 each.
