Geneva establishment celebrates first year in business

GENEVA — Music, games and door prizes highlighted the Scribblers Coffee Co. one year in business celebration Saturday.

Company spokeswoman Megan Kinnear said the year has gone really well and the company wanted to give back to customers.

“There was so much excitement a year ago (but) when you are a new business you always wonder,” she said. Kinnear said area residents have made the business a success.

Kinnear said most of the food is made fresh every day. She said the business grows herbs on the property and bakes bread daily.

Kinnear said short of growing their own wheat, or milling their own corn, Scribblers does almost everything they can to create the fresh food experience ranging from sandwiches to breakfast goodies.

“I think that is what people are responding to,” Kinnear said.

“This is purely a celebration for the people,” she said.

A variety of activities for children occurred including face painting, coloring contests, sack races and cupcake decorating and smashing.

Five children took to the cupcake decorating, but some were not excited about smashing the cupcakes into their mouths. They were more interested in eating the yummy sweets slowly.

A variety of musicians also performed with poetry reading and a cornhole tournament interspersed throughout the day.
