Mom totes knife to school after lice call

Woman remains in jail pending her arraignment

JEFFERSON — A Kingsville Elementary School parent was arrested Wednesday afternoon after allegedly bringing a knife on school property when she came to pick up her child because she had head lice.

Dora L. Hannold, 46, of 3947 Gore Road, Conneaut, has been charged with aggravated menacing, a first-degree misdemeanor; carrying a concealed weapon, a first-degree misdemeanor; and, illegal conveyance or possession of a dangerous weapon on school premises, a fifth-degree felony. She is being held in Ashtabula County Jail pending arraignment today in Eastern County Court, according to a court spokesperson.

Ashtabula County Sheriff’s Department deputies were dispatched to Kingsville Elementary School for a report of an unwanted person in the parking lot with a knife. The deputy was advised that Hannold reportedly was angry about having to pick her daughter up because of a lice problem, according to reports.

When the deputy arrived, the knife had already been confiscated, according to reports.

When asked why she brought the weapon on school property, Hannold reported told the deputy “I don’t know, I guess I wasn’t thinking,” according to reports.

The school nurse reportedly told deputies Hannold’s friend called the school and told the secretary “not to let Dora into the school,” according to reports.

Hannold’s friend reportedly called back a second time to warn the school secretary that Hannold had a knife, according to reports.

The nurse told deputies, she was told by Hannold’s friend that she (the nurse) was the target and should “be careful,” according to reports.
