Woman in murder-for-hire accused of making threats from prison

JEFFERSON — The woman convicted of hiring a hitman to murder her late husband’s ex-wife, is being accused of making threats from prison.

Angel Brown, 36, is serving nine years at the Marysville Reformatory for Women, after being convicted last October.

A Jefferson Township woman filed a report with the Ashtabula County Sheriff’s Department, Tuesday, alleging Brown has been sending her threatening letters because she is trying to gain custody of Brown’s 9-year-old son, according to reports.

The boy is living in Pennsylvania, according to reports.

The woman reportedly told deputies she is worried Brown will send “one of her people to come and hurt her,” according to reports.

Brown allegedly wrote, in one of the letters, “wait ‘til I get out,” according to reports.

Last August, it took a jury two hours to return a guilty verdict after hearing all the evidence in the case, including a recorded phone call in which Brown told the would-be hitman she hired that she wanted her late husband’s ex-wife’s body to disappear.

Brown hired James Holley and paid him $4,000. Holley accepted the money and then reported it to police.
