An Ashtabula man remains in critical condition with injuries suffered in a motorcycle crash in Mansfield late last month, according to reports.
Shad Nosse, 22, is in the intensive care unit of MedCenter/Mansfield Hospital, a spokeswoman said Tuesday. Nosse was injured in a two-vehicle accident on the afternoon of June 30, the Ohio State Highway Patrol told the Mansfield News Journal.
Nosse’s motorcycle collided with a vehicle driven by a 19-year-old at the intersection of Morgan and Fifth avenues in that city, the newspaper reported. Nosse was not wearing a helmet and suffered head injuries and a compound fracture to his right leg, troopers told the newspaper. Speed may have been a factor, according to news reports.
The other driver suffered minor injuries caused by the inflation of an air bag, troopers told the newspaper.
Mary Nosse of Ashtabula said Tuesday her grandson had obtained the motorcycle — his first — just two weeks ago. Shad Nosse was experienced in racing and riding all-terrain vehicles, she said. His girlfriend lives in the Mansfield area, Mary Nosse said.
Shad Nosse was born and reared in the Ashtabula, and was a graduate of Edgewood High School, she said. “We’re all just hoping for the best,” Mary Nosse said.
