Commissioners OK contract for Orwell water tower project

JEFFERSON —

Ashtabula County Commissioners, Tuesday, approved a contract with a Pennsylvania firm for the Orwell water tower project.
Worldwide Industries, of Butler, Pa., will perform the work on the tower, which consists of painting and repairing the interior and exterior of the tower located on Penniman Ave.
The contract amount is not to exceed $583,557 with $75,000 coming from fiscal year 2013 Community Development Block Grant funds and $160,000 coming from Appalachian Regional Commission grant funds.
Work is expected to be completed by the end of October.
In other business, Commissioner approved:
• An agreement with Lower Cork Co. for demolition of blighted properties on N. Homewood Drive in Ashtabula Township. The work is part of the Moving Ohio Forward program;
• A resolution re-appointing members to the Workforce Investment Board (WIB);
• A resolution re-appointing Janie Gildersleeve and Marie Lane to the Ashtabula County Mental Health and Recovery Services Board (MHRS);
• A resolution approving an agreement with Ashtabula County Medical Center for wound healing services; and,
• A resolution approving a lease agreement with ACMC for wound healing services.
Commissioners also approved a number of financial transactions for the county including payroll changes and the third amendment to the certificate of estimated resources for the county. The amendment was presented to reflect the money from the Clerk of Courts’ title fund that was appropriated to the Sheriff’s Department. The certificate also reflects other changes to the estimated resources.
